"government santioned hunting" has a few meanings that could apply here. I took what you were saying in the wrong direction apparently. Have you watched the entire documentary? Its one of the best I've seen. To be fair, in this documentary the Discovery Channel did not try, or even attempted, to show any of the animals to be like Nemo or Samba, they showed the animals as savage hunters that will not only kill for food, but also to defend territory. Watch the clip in my first post to see Ntchwaidumela apply true hunting skills. There is lots we can learn from his technique, let alone his attitude. I also bolded the text of the trophy hunters hunting from the safety of their vehicles because I feel that to not be an acceptable hunting technique. Let the hunters hunt something else until the Lion numbers replenish. I believe they should be protected like the Goliath Grouper. I think you misunderstood me, and that is my fault. What my earlier comment refers too is that I dont understand is that there is still "government sanctioned" hunting for Lions in Africa. You think your hunting of grouper is so innocent? What will you post when the Discovery Channel has a documentry that demonizing the Florida spearfishermen for killing the poor fish? I am sure the Discovery Channel will point out that the state had to start banning you from hunting and do a real good job of representing the spearfisherman and not try to make the grouper out to be Nemo just like they made the lions in your story out to be Simba and pointed out how trophy hunting is saving the econmy of several African nations. I am sure you are armed with plenty of knowledge from the Dicovery Channel or have you actually been to Africa and studies up lion hunting? Why are you posting this 19 YEARS AFTER THE EVENT? African lions only live about 15 years on average in the wild.Īre you looking for a debate on trophy hunting? If so take this to the political section! I am sure one of us evil hunters will have a conversation with you so you can publicly denounce our hunting of the big cats, as you pat yourself on the back for eating what you kill. Trophy hunters killed both of the long-reigning lions, from the safety of vehicles, as they moved from one protected preserve to another in 1991." Although not shown here (but shown on the full documentary), Ntchwaidumela had already killed the prior matriarch of the same Hyena clan but a few days before. At minute 2:10 of the video He Who Greets With Fire begins his attack. Hit the link above if you want to see the short video of He Who Greets With Fire taking down the matriarch of the Hyena's southern clan, as presented in the National Geographic Documentary: Eternal Enemies. He gained fame in a documentary some years ago about the eternal battle between lions and hyenas, and this is a portion of that film where Ntchwaidumela gained worldwide fame. His name means "he who greets with fire", and he was known as "The Hyena Killer". "Recently I heard that Ntchwaidumela, or Ntwadumela, has been killed by hunters. It was an animal I learned a lot from.Rest in Peace my friend. I have just found out that my favorite Lion was apparently killed by hunters.
